Dorothy Lee Posey 78, of Champion, died, Sunday, March 7, 2010 at her residence. She was born, May 27, 1931, in Weston, West Virginia, a daughter of the late George and Catherine (Fisher) Schiefer.
Dorothy was a graduate of Weston High School in Weston, West Virginia class of 1949 and Long and McKlveen College of Cosmetology in 1969. She worked at Dorsey's Beauty Salon and later owned and operated Posey's Beauty Salon of Champion. She attended Champion Christian Church and enjoyed Western Square Dancing and Ballroom Dancing.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Herbert Matthew Posey, whom she married, December 31, 1949, and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on New Years Eve. Also surviving are one daughter, Beverly Posey, of Gastonia, NC, and a son and daughter in law David (Patricia Peters) Posey of Champion, 2 granddaughters, Katharine and Jessica Posey, one sister, Etna Knaup of Middlebourne, West Virginia, and several loved nieces and nephews and her loving poodle Sean. Preceding her in death were a brother, Robert Toothman and 3 sisters, Helen Smith, Josephine Teijeiro and Clara Friedman
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Carl W. Hall Funeral Home. The family has decided on cremation and a private service at home due to their father's health. In addition the family would like to thank family, friends, neighbors and Dorothy's church friends and family at Champion Christian Church, and all her friends at Concord Care for all their support and prayers. They also would like to thank MVI Home Health Care and the MVI Hospice Care for the great care and support they have given her family.
